Five Things I Love...Right Now
Uno' has offered a gluten-free menu for some time. This weekend I finally got around to taking my mom, who eats gluten-free, to the restaurant. I didn't think she'd be excited. I was wrong. She was ecstatic about being out in a restaurant, and ordering a gluten-free pizza. I smile just thinking about it. Oh, and the pizza was tasty, too!
Before going gluten-free, I had a guilty cookie-pleasure. Don't tell anyone but I loved Sugar Wafers. You know Sugar Wafers, right? They are thin wafer cookies sandwiched together with a creme filling. (Notice the spelling of "creme". This isn't high cuisine!) The other day I noticed that Glutino made a wafer cookie and I decided to give them a try. Well, Glutino has done it. They've returned my guilty cookie-pleasure! These cookies, complete with an artificial lemon flavor, taste just like the wheat-filled Sugar Wafers I remember.
American Coca-Cola is gluten-free. Let's get that out of the way. So it is safe to drink if you are on the gluten-free diet. However, it contains High Fructose Corn Syrup. I'm not trying to start another debate about High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS). But I will say that I don't like it! To me, it makes soda taste syrupy. Enter Coca-Cola made in Mexico. It's made with cane sugar and not HFCS. I've heard about it for some time but it only just arrived in my area. And, let me tell you, I think it was worth the $1.38 per bottle price tag. I don't drink soda on a regular basis but when I do, I am really enjoying the crisp flavor of the Mexican Coca-Cola.
As you know, I make homemade bread. But life gets busy. I am really excited that Udi's offers a premade gluten-free bread that is good. And not just good! It's tasty and makes a great sandwich. Am I going to give up making homemade bread? Nope! But it is nice to have options and Udi's is a great option!
I know. I know. Face cream is not a food and this is a food website. I don't care. When you have as many allergies as I do, it's tough to find a cream that doesn't make your skin turn red and itch! So when I finally found a cream that is nice to my skin, I thought I'd share! Over the last few weeks, I've been using Dermalogica's skin smoothing cream and my skin hasn't started itching once.
That is what I am in love with right now. How about you? What are you currently smitten with?
